Abigail Larson’s lovely illustrations use dense blacks, acidic greens, and pumpkin orange to bring Tim Burton’s characters to life. The Cards sit within broad black frames, fine white scrollwork and narrow condensed titles. The reversible backs repeat purple diamonds and curling gothic ornament over black.

The four Minor Arcana suits are renamed Candles, Potions, Needles and Presents, replacing the conventional Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles. This is the clearest departure from a Rider–Waite-style deck: the underlying tarot structure remains familiar, but its symbols and narrative scenes are translated into the world of the film. While there isn’t an included guidebook, a friendly QR code on the back of the box will provide beginner instructions and references.

At 70 × 120 mm, the tarot deck matches the standard tarot size, so it feels familiar rather than oversized. The cardstock is lightweight and flexible, with rounded corners and a smooth surface. It handles regular shuffling and dealing well, although the low-sheen finish may make new cards cling slightly until the deck has been worked in.

In a spread, the high-contrast frames, white numbering and uncluttered title panels remain easy to scan; the illustrations carry enough character for intuitive reading, while the custom suits give a novelty twist to a very old and traditional ritual.
